Prayer Calendar December 2020 – January 2021

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2)

There was darkness in Israel when Jesus came to earth. The Roman rule weighed heavily on Israel and God had not spoken in a prophetic word for four hundred years. It was in this uncertain and fearful time that Jesus came to earth as the Light and Word of God. God did not desert Israel but gave His Son. There had also been light in the darkness two hundred years before Jesus’ coming. The Jews had reconquered the temple from the Greeks and the lampstand in the temple burned in the darkness for eight days on just one small jug of oil.

Light can be hard to find in our time as well. The world only seems to become colder and darker.
Yet there is hope. God has shown again and again that He is and gives the Light in the darkness, for Israel and for us. In the coming months, let us pray for light in the darkness and give thanks for the Light that came and will shine forever.

Greetings,
Christians for Israel Prayer Team
