Israel Study Tour for women – March 2019
Dates: 8 March to 16 March 2019.
Theme: Women in the Bible and Powerwomen in Israel today.
We will study various better and lesser known women oft he Bible, who have made an impact in the time they lived, and will also meet Jewish and Arab women in Israel who make a special contribution to society today. Women in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Galilee, Tel Aviv and Rehovoth will give us an insight into their lives and activities.
In Jerusalem we start the tour with a visit to the Western Wall and a Shabbat dinner. We will also visit the City of David and the old city of Jerusalem, have interesting conversations with new immigrants, with teachers of the Arab-Jewish “Hand-In-Hand school”, meet women (Holocaust survivors) who participate in the Cafe Europe project in Jerusalem and much more. In Bethlehem we will participate in a women’s breakfast organized by Christian-Arab women and hear more about their work with women in this area. After a visit to Tabgha, Magdala, Capernaum and Nazareth we plan to visit Amal and some of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim women oft he region, who are participating in a peace art project (‘The women and their olive tree’). Via Zichron Yaakov we will drive to Tel Aviv and Rehovoth, where we will meet scientists at the Weizmann Institute and learn more about their work, family life and everyday life. We also will visit the Technological School, a school that helps teenagers at risk, and will join Ethiopian children at a day care center, helping them to prepare for Shabbat. Ethiopian singer Hagit Yaso, one of Israel’s rising young stars, whose parents immigrated via Sudan, will sing for us and give us an insight into her career. In Kibbutz Netiv ha Asara we will meet the initiator of the peace project “Path to Peace” and learn more about life in this special kibbutz.
Bible study, times of worship and prayer will make this an unforgettable tour!
