The writer Henryk Broder recently issued a withering indictment: Europe, your family name is appeasement. That phrase resonates because it is so terribly true.

Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives as allies Britain and France negotiated and hesitated too long before they realised that Adolf Hitler needed to be fought and defeated, because he could not be bound by toothless agreements.

ETHNIC CLEANSING OF THE GAZA STRIP

In today’s educated, sophisticated and very humanistic world, one of the major " no-no's " is ethnic cleansing. That fairly recently coined term means to remove people from a certain location simply because of their race or religion. It is considered "a crime against humanity." When it was taking place in Kosovo a few years ago, an outcry went up from many nations. U.N. and NATO forces were quickly dispatched to intervene and stop it. The question I want to ask today is " why are the same nations, including the USA and the U.N. now promoting ethnic cleansing in the Middle East? "

One of the most exciting initiatives launched in recent years is dedicated to the goal of bringing together Christian groups and individuals to lobby on Israel's behalf and counter the growing threat posed by anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism.
It is called the European Coalition for Israel, representing Christian organizations and individuals within Europe. The founding Coalition members are Bridges for Peace, Christians for Israel International, Christians Friends of Israel and the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. It is the only Christian pro-Israel lobby group that is active in Brussels and Strasbourg to fight anti-Semitism and to help Israel's difficult stand within the European Union (EU).

I arrived in Dnipropetrovs’k, a big city by the river Dnepr, which divides Ukraine in two, flowing from Chernobyl to the Black Sea. This area was to be my next work field where I would be "fishing" Jewish people as well as accompanying families to the airport, among which a Jewish family Lugansk, close to the Russian border, to the airport in Dnipropetrovs’k from where they would continue to Israel.

JERUSALEM The stage is set

Two thousand five hundred years ago, the God of the Bible, through His prophet Zechariah, declared, "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem" (Zech. 12:2). This is an amazing declaration – not only that Jerusalem, which was then in complete ruins, would be the focus of world attention one day but also that all of Israel’s neighbors would be united against her.
God goes on to say, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people…" (Zech. 12:3). The language is very precise: a "burdensome stone" for "all people," but a "cup of trembling" for Israel’s neighbors around her. What is the difference?

After a long and intensive process of prayer, consultation and meetings, Harald Eckert has been appointed as Chairman of Christians for Israel Germany (Israel Heute) to replace Theo Ellesat. This change of leadership became effective from October 1, 2005.
