Isaac had been a fixture of French intellectual society for decades. His seven-volume Cours d’histoire served as the standard history text in most French high schools and universities. At the 4th Annual Policy Conference of the European Coalition for Israel in the European Parliament in Brussels, several speakers confirmed that the same militant Islamic forces which are waging a war against Israel, would also like to see Europe conquered. The threat of the destruction of the State of Israel should not only be considered an issue of Jewish concern. The same forces which are trying to wipe Israel off the map, would also want to conquer Europe.

Saturday night’s news was a sudden surprise. Without any reported initial meetings, seemingly out of nowhere, a ceasefire was announced -- not only between Israel and Hamas but with an agreement among all the different terrorist organizations. This sounded unreal. For over five years, Israel's southern cities have been the victims of Gazan launched, indiscriminately directed, Kessam missiles. In the past few weeks, within a short number of hours, twenty to as many as one hundred missiles have been launched mainly targeting the city of Sderot. Its residents reported that the situation was unbearable.
